Yes, something isn't turning freely. It's either the front wheel, the back wheel, or the pedals and chain. Lift the bike off the ground and turn the front wheel by hand. If it doesn't turn very freely, it could be the hand-brake is dragging or the hub bearing is.

I noticed the rear wheel on my 1990 Honda elite 80 was locked. will spin about 10 of a full turn. It WILL spin if you apply the throttle. I dont believe it to be the brakes. 2. Inside your rear wheel is what is called a free hub. It has a ratcheting mechanism that allows you to pedal backwards while conversely engaging when you pedal forward so to transfer pedal force to the wheel. I#x27;ve been stuck on a trail more than once due to a free hub failing to engage. Unfortunately your free hub is generally not servicable. Jan 13, 2015. #1. Yes, several months ago we had a discussion about rust forming on the rotors of the rear wheels and the brake pads fusing to the rotor. The result was that the rear wheels would not rotate. Of course it may also be that the brake pads are set but that is rather obvious. Take a look at the rotors on the rear and see if you can see a rust build up.
